Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 6.23% or 1.50 points to trade at 25.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 6.19% or 1.88 points to end at 32.25 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was up 5.02% or 0.61 points to 12.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4), which fell 8.53% or 0.69 points to trade at 7.40 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 8.42% or 0.17 points to end at 1.85 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was down 8.15% or 0.29 points to 3.27.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 169 to 152 and 22 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.96% to 50.68.
Gold for April delivery was down 1.90% or 23.90 to $1235.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.99% or 1.15 to hit $37.35 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 1.02% or 1.29 to trade at $127.17 .
USD/BRL was up 2.05% to 3.6552, while EUR/BRL rose 1.51% to 4.0557.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 96.59.
