Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 9.61% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 6.35% or 1.30 points to end at 21.76 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was up 6.15% or 0.51 points to 8.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3), which fell 6.01% or 0.74 points to trade at 11.58 at the close. Oi SA (SA:OIBR3) declined 4.71% or 0.04 points to end at 0.81 and Multiplan SA (SA:MULT3) was down 4.21% or 2.44 points to 55.46.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 151 to 149 and 27 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oi SA (SA:OIBR3) fell to 5-year lows; down 4.71% or 0.04 to 0.81.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.87% to 44.30 a new 1-month low.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.61% or 7.60 to $1246.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.41% or 1.45 to hit $43.92 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.92% or 1.18 to trade at $128.85 .
USD/BRL was down 0.21% to 3.5274, while EUR/BRL fell 0.78% to 3.9840.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 94.55.
