Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Products, Industrials and Property sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI added 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB), which rose 2.76% or 0.17 points to trade at 6.33 at the close. Meanwhile, British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO) added 1.85% or 1.18 points to end at 64.92 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENA) was up 1.15% or 0.16 points to 14.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Genting Bhd (KL:GENT), which fell 3.26% or 0.30 points to trade at 8.90 at the close. Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) declined 0.67% or 0.04 points to end at 5.96 and Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA) was down 0.59% or 0.04 points to 6.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 240 to 237 and 33 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.48% or 0.28 to $59.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $66.60 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.70% or 8.60 to trade at $1216.60 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.29% to 2.6903, while USD/MYR rose 0.08% to 3.5636.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 93.83.
