Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 3.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 3.75% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 2.35% or 0.72 points to end at 31.32 and EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3) was down 0.64% or 0.08 points to 12.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4), which fell 9.33% or 0.78 points to trade at 7.58 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) declined 8.83% or 0.93 points to end at 9.60 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was down 7.94% or 1.92 points to 22.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 251 to 75 and 15 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.70% to 55.37 a new 1-month high.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.49% or 6.00 to $1217.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.37% or 1.24 to hit $35.55 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 3.25% or 4.12 to trade at $122.53 .
USD/BRL was up 1.97% to 3.6210, while EUR/BRL rose 2.06% to 4.1283.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 94.55.
