Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.37% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 12.02% or 0.94 points to trade at 8.76 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 7.52% or 1.62 points to end at 23.15 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) was up 5.97% or 0.92 points to 16.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 5.00% or 0.50 points to trade at 9.50 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 4.03% or 0.75 points to end at 17.86 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was down 2.63% or 0.22 points to 8.16.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 193 to 133 and 15 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.67% to 36.00 a new 6-months low.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.73% or 22.85 to $1343.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.86% or 0.90 to hit $49.23 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.70% or 1.02 to trade at $146.57 .
USD/BRL was up 0.63% to 3.2342, while EUR/BRL rose 0.90% to 3.6016.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 95.73.
