Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4), which rose 6.04% or 1.43 points to trade at 25.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Via Varejo SA (SA:VVAR3) added 5.05% or 0.22 points to end at 4.58 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) was up 4.45% or 0.52 points to 12.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4), which fell 3.80% or 0.87 points to trade at 22.00 at the close. TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11) declined 3.60% or 0.85 points to end at 22.75 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was down 3.38% or 0.88 points to 25.17.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 236 to 176 and 33 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 6.04% or 1.43 to 25.12.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.03% to 34.78.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.10% or 1.20 to $1253.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 7.15% or 3.59 to hit $46.61 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.70% or 0.70 to trade at $99.40 .
USD/BRL was up 0.33% to 3.9123, while EUR/BRL rose 0.43% to 4.4443.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 96.545.
