Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 1.56%, while the ADX General index fell 1.45%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which rose 5.29% or 0.027 points to trade at 0.537 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) added 2.86% or 0.040 points to end at 1.440 and National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) was up 2.56% or 0.030 points to 1.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which fell 3.70% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.443 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) declined 3.33% or 0.080 points to end at 2.320 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was down 3.03% or 0.270 points to 8.650.
The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which rose 2.56% to 0.400, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was up 1.96% to settle at 0.510 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 1.85% to close at 0.540.
The worst performers were Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 7.14% to 0.910 in late trade, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which lost 4.75% to settle at 3.01 and Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 4.11% to 3.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 22 to 5; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 16 fell and 7 advanced, while 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.20% or 0.09 to $44.54 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.82% or 0.40 to hit $48.64 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.17% or 1.90 to trade at $1105.20 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.20% to 4.1570.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.44.
