Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Aerospace & Defense and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.66%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which rose 12.39% or 81.50 points to trade at 739.50 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 5.51% or 31.50 points to end at 603.50 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 5.05% or 41.00 points to 853.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which fell 2.61% or 5.40 points to trade at 201.80 at the close. Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) declined 2.60% or 5.50 points to end at 206.35 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was down 1.83% or 39.00 points to 2087.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1133 to 820 and 443 ended unchanged.
Shares in International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.51% or 31.50 to 603.50. Shares in Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.05% or 41.00 to 853.50.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.04% or 0.48 to $1229.08 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.21% or 0.55 to hit $46.07 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.51 to trade at $48.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.25% to 1.2954, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8489.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 98.51.
