Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Electricity and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which rose 10.00% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.40 at the close. Meanwhile, JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) added 9.96% or 2.30 points to end at 25.40 and Thunder Tiger Corp (TW:8033) was up 9.92% or 0.84 points to 9.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229), which fell 9.86% or 2.10 points to trade at 19.20 at the close. Delpha Construction Co Ltd (TW:2530) declined 8.36% or 1.35 points to end at 14.80 and Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) was down 7.38% or 0.24 points to 3.01.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 488 to 299 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 1.40 to 15.40.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.89% or 0.44 to $49.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.84% or 0.44 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.23 to trade at $1261.87 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 30.080, while TWD/CNY fell 0.61% to 0.2266.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 97.34.
