Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Textile sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 10.00% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) added 9.94% or 0.18 points to end at 1.99 and Shun On (TW:6283) was up 9.93% or 0.53 points to 5.87 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aopen (TW:3046), which fell 5.99% or 0.47 points to trade at 7.37 at the close. Tsrc (TW:2103) declined 5.32% or 1.65 points to end at 29.35 and Hiti Digital (TW:3494) was down 4.84% or 0.75 points to 14.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 455 to 284 and 112 ended unchanged.
Shares in Via Tech (TW:2388) rose to 52-week highs; up 10.00% or 1.35 to 14.85. Shares in Aopen (TW:3046) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.99% or 0.47 to 7.37.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 5.01% or 2.09 to $39.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 4.73% or 2.04 to hit $41.06 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1235.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.22% to 32.415, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2003.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.77.
