Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Other sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which rose 9.98% or 0.87 points to trade at 9.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Ritek (TW:2349) added 8.22% or 0.250 points to end at 3.290 and Microtek Intl (TW:2305) was up 8.16% or 0.80 points to 10.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Victory (TW:1340), which fell 8.32% or 5.10 points to trade at 56.20 at the close. Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) declined 6.37% or 0.29 points to end at 4.26 and Macronix (TW:2337) was down 5.97% or 0.240 points to 3.780.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 533 to 224 and 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ritek (TW:2349) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.22% or 0.250 to 3.290. Shares in Microtek Intl (TW:2305) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.16% or 0.80 to 10.60.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.16% or 0.07 to $44.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.24% or 0.11 to hit $45.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.48% or 6.40 to trade at $1325.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.22% to 32.136, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2075.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.47.
