Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Para (TW:6226), which rose 9.99% or 0.87 points to trade at 9.58 at the close. Meanwhile, Genius (TW:3406) added 9.97% or 28.50 points to end at 314.50 and Cameo (TW:6142) was up 9.90% or 0.88 points to 9.77 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Giant (TW:9921), which fell 4.28% or 8.00 points to trade at 179.00 at the close. Pao Lung (TW:1906) declined 4.15% or 1.10 points to end at 25.40 and Asmedia (TW:5269) was down 3.85% or 13.00 points to 325.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 416 to 351 and 111 ended unchanged.
Shares in Para (TW:6226) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.99% or 0.87 to 9.58. Shares in Genius (TW:3406) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 9.97% or 28.50 to 314.50. Shares in Cameo (TW:6142) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.90% or 0.88 to 9.77.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.22% or 0.11 to $49.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $52.57 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 2.95 to trade at $1250.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 30.305, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2274.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 99.84.
