Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Iron & Steel and Optoelectronic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Enterex International Ltd (TW:1592), which rose 10.00% or 3.90 points to trade at 42.90 at the close. Meanwhile, X-Legend (TW:4994) added 10.00% or 6.90 points to end at 75.90 and Phytohealth (TW:4108) was up 10.00% or 2.60 points to 28.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ygg (TW:1589), which fell 6.47% or 7.50 points to trade at 108.50 at the close. Super Dragon (TW:9955) declined 5.28% or 0.95 points to end at 17.05 and Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) was down 2.93% or 0.50 points to 16.55.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 814 to 34 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ygg (TW:1589) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.47% or 7.50 to 108.50.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.42% or 0.19 to $45.46 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.80% or 0.37 to hit $46.73 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.09% or 13.85 to trade at $1287.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.45% to 31.593, while TWD/CNY rose 0.47% to 0.2126.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 98.45.
