Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electronic Parts/Components and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 2.44%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ritek Corp (TW:2349), which rose 10.00% or 0.950 points to trade at 10.450 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology Corp (TW:6278) added 10.00% or 3.15 points to end at 34.65 and Asmedia Technology Inc (TW:5269) was up 9.94% or 40.50 points to 448.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chilisin Electronics Corp (TW:2456), which fell 10.08% or 12.00 points to trade at 107.00 at the close. Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) declined 9.79% or 1.15 points to end at 10.60 and Chang Ho Fibre Corp (TW:1468) was down 9.22% or 0.95 points to 9.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 606 to 265 and 43 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.06% or 0.75 to $71.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.17% or 0.94 to hit $81.20 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.62% or 7.60 to trade at $1220.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.39% to 30.844, while TWD/CNY rose 0.36% to 0.2230.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 94.74.
