Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Motors, Healthcare and Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE), which rose 15.00% or 0.30 points to trade at 2.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) added 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) was up 12.50% or 10.00 points to 90.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which fell 21.39% or 299.50 points to trade at 1100.50 at the close. Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) declined 12.98% or 298.20 points to end at 2000.00 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was down 11.11% or 0.100 points to 0.800.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 98 to 95 and 49 ended unchanged.
Shares in Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD) fell to 52-week lows; losing 21.39% or 299.50 to 1100.50. Shares in Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) fell to 5-year lows; losing 11.11% or 0.100 to 0.800.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.63% or 0.29 to $46.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.82% or 0.40 to hit $48.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.65 to trade at $1317.15 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.12% to 190.670, while USD/LKR rose 0.15% to 145.750.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 96.04.
