Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Banking and Travel sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which rose 3.85% or 0.0400 points to trade at 1.0800 at the close. Meanwhile, Folli Follie (AT:HDFr) added 3.03% or 0.60 points to end at 20.39 and Hellenic Petroleum SA (AT:HEPr) was up 2.56% or 0.180 points to 7.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Public Power (AT:DEHr), which fell 10.11% or 0.44 points to trade at 3.91 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 4.28% or 0.0080 points to end at 0.1790 and Profile Syst (AT:PRFr) was down 3.84% or 0.023 points to 0.576.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 56 to 47 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.85% or 0.0400 to 1.0800. Shares in Hellenic Petroleum SA (AT:HEPr) rose to 3-years highs; up 2.56% or 0.180 to 7.200.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.10% or 1.36 to $1296.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 4.09% or 1.97 to hit $46.22 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.29% or 1.65 to trade at $48.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1253, while EUR/GBP fell 0.61% to 0.8681.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.63.
