Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.51% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr), which rose 9.64% or 0.013 points to trade at 0.153 at the close. Meanwhile, Centric Hold (AT:DESr) added 8.96% or 0.012 points to end at 0.146 and Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) was up 8.18% or 0.009 points to 0.119 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which fell 6.56% or 0.021 points to trade at 0.299 at the close. Dromeas (AT:DROr) declined 5.07% or 0.007 points to end at 0.131 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) was down 4.05% or 0.015 points to 0.355.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 61 to 37 and 11 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.59% or 17.50 to $1120.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 5.90% or 2.63 to hit $47.22 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 5.06% or 2.42 to trade at $50.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1296, while EUR/GBP fell 0.80% to 0.7283.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 95.41.
