Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.75%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN), which rose 3.41% or 1.59 points to trade at 48.36 at the close. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 1.94% or 0.86 points to end at 45.35 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was up 1.89% or 0.34 points to 18.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PA:TECF), which fell 1.35% or 0.72 points to trade at 52.58 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 1.06% or 0.059 points to end at 5.495 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was down 0.69% or 0.47 points to 67.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) which rose 3.41% to 48.36, Euler Hermes (PA:ELER) which was up 2.73% to settle at 74.15 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 2.71% to close at 3.872.
The worst performers were Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was down 3.01% to 15.65 in late trade, Technip (PA:TECF) which lost 1.35% to settle at 52.58 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 1.06% to 5.495 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 401 to 241 and 115 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.98% to 18.56.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.54% or 7.15 to $1319.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.02% or 0.48 to hit $46.50 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.65 to trade at $48.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.1147, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8519.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 96.01.
