Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.31% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which rose 2.37% or 0.39 points to trade at 16.71 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BRU:AGES) added 2.02% or 0.630 points to end at 31.870 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) was up 1.39% or 1.50 points to 109.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay (BRU:SOLB), which fell 3.69% or 4.95 points to trade at 129.15 at the close. Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) declined 2.36% or 1.420 points to end at 58.860 and bpost NV (BRU:BPOST) was down 2.32% or 0.58 points to 24.47.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 105 to 69 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.38% or 4.50 to $1188.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.27% or 0.77 to hit $61.17 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.60 to trade at $68.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.29% to 1.1330, while EUR/GBP rose 1.01% to 0.7440.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.03% at 94.29.
