Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the A-REITs, Telecoms Services and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Ausdrill Ltd (ASX:ASL), which rose 10.48% or 0.165 points to trade at 1.740 at the close. Meanwhile, Viva Energy Group Ltd (ASX:VEA) added 4.43% or 0.09 points to end at 2.12 and Domino'S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP) was up 3.90% or 1.470 points to 39.130 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metcash Ltd (ASX:MTS), which fell 9.84% or 0.310 points to trade at 2.840 at the close. NRW Holdings Ltd (ASX:NWH) declined 6.61% or 0.160 points to end at 2.260 and Domain Holdings Australia Ltd (ASX:DHG) was down 5.76% or 0.190 points to 3.110.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 727 to 542 and 412 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 4.76% to 13.389.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.55% or 7.65 to $1407.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.98% or 0.56 to hit $57.99 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.27 to trade at $64.72 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.39% to 0.6950, while AUD/JPY rose 0.42% to 74.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 95.578.
