Lebron James Files Four NFT-Related Trademarks Applications

  • Los Angeles Lakers’ basketball player Lebron James has filed four trademark applications.
  • According to the trademark application, the basketball player intends to provide non-fungible tokens.
  • This follows the basketball phenom’s recent appearance in Crypto.com’s SuperBowl advertisement.

Basketball superstar Lebron James has filed four trademark applications for “LEBRON JAMES”, “LEBRON”, “CHOSEN1”, and “KING JAMES”, which is indicative of his intention to enter the metaverse.

Trademark lawyer Michael Kondoudis, who tracks Metaverse and NFT trademark filings, had tweeted the news earlier today.

According to the trademark application, the basketball player intends to provide non-fungible tokens featuring a variety of virtual goods. These virtual goods include footwear, sports gear, clothing, home furnishings, and much more.

Furthermore, James plans on creating several virtual experiences for metaverse users to enjoy. Users will be able to take part in virtual experiences relating to basketball, including virtual basketball courts, gyms, and more. These virtual experiences will enable them to play sports in the metaverse.

The filing of the four trademark applications follows the basketball phenom’s recent appearance in Crypto.com’s SuperBowl advertisement. The commercial shows a young LeBron James on the verge of making the life-changing decision to skip college and go to the NBA league. He was accompanied by his older self advising him to always “call his own shots”.

People who viewed the commercial kept their eyes peeled for any Easter eggs, as they suspected that the commercial would feature a secret QR code that would lead to an exclusive NFT airdrop.

Fans who found the secret QR code were directed to a hidden webpage where they could input their email address. Thereafter, fans were given further instructions on how to enter for a chance to win a limited edition NFT.
