Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Trading & Consumer Goods and Chemical/Bio & Medical care sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.85% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cyberpower (TW:3617), which rose 9.96% or 9.60 points to trade at 106.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bionime (TW:4737) added 9.89% or 4.60 points to end at 51.10 and Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) was up 9.87% or 1.55 points to 17.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Candmark (TW:5259), which fell 9.76% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.48 at the close. Chateau (TW:2722) declined 5.10% or 2.25 points to end at 41.85 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was down 4.57% or 0.09 points to 1.88.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 519 to 225 and 109 ended unchanged.
Shares in Candmark (TW:5259) fell to all time lows; falling 9.76% or 0.16 to 1.48.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.26% or 0.13 to $49.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.44% or 0.22 to hit $49.73 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.95% or 11.60 to trade at $1205.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.40% to 32.654, while TWD/CNY rose 0.30% to 0.2015.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 95.88.
