Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Other sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ya Horng (TW:6201), which rose 10.00% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.30 at the close. Meanwhile, G.M.I (TW:3312) added 9.87% or 0.69 points to end at 7.68 and Chien Shing Ss (TW:2025) was up 9.68% or 0.210 points to 2.380 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Calin (TW:4976), which fell 9.34% or 2.25 points to trade at 21.85 at the close. Sunrace (TW:1526) declined 8.62% or 1.50 points to end at 15.90 and Super Dragon (TW:9955) was down 8.31% or 1.65 points to 18.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 573 to 206 and 76 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ya Horng (TW:6201) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.00% or 3.30 to 36.30. Shares in G.M.I (TW:3312) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.87% or 0.69 to 7.68.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.93% or 0.45 to $48.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.47% or 0.24 to hit $51.13 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.31% or 4.25 to trade at $1352.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.65% to 31.641, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2113.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 94.28.
