Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electricity, Paper & Pulp and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.64% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348), which rose 9.98% or 2.40 points to trade at 26.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Hung Chou Fiber Ind Co Ltd (TW:1413) added 9.98% or 0.60 points to end at 6.61 and Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW:1435) was up 9.94% or 0.520 points to 5.750 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538), which fell 7.63% or 0.72 points to trade at 8.72 at the close. China Electric Manufacturing Corp (TW:1611) declined 5.19% or 0.46 points to end at 8.40 and Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) was down 4.92% or 3.00 points to 58.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 509 to 256 and 107 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.76% or 0.39 to $51.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.82% or 0.44 to hit $54.40 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 5.05 to trade at $1258.15 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.37% to 30.059, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2287.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.92.
