Investing.com – China stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mobile and Banking sectors led shares higher while losses in the Software & Computer Services, Technology and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite gained 2.17% to hit a new 3-years high, while the SZSE Component index declined 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Hainan Airline (SS:600221), which rose 10.08% or 0.600 points to trade at 6.550 at the close. Meanwhile, Citic Guoan Vi (SS:600084) added 10.05% or 1.020 points to end at 11.170 and Air China SS (SS:601111) was up 10.04% or 1.230 points to 13.480 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kama-B (SS:900953), which fell 10.01% or 0.146 points to trade at 1.312 at the close. Ch Text Mach-B (SS:900906) declined 10.01% or 0.102 points to end at 0.917 and Jiangsu Pacific Quartz Co Ltd (SS:603688) was down 10.01% or 3.79 points to 34.07.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Pangang Group Vanadium Titanium & Resources Co Ltd (SZ:000629) which rose 9.92% to 5.43, Bank of Ningbo Co Ltd (SZ:002142) which was up 8.69% to settle at 23.88 and Jilin Aodong Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd (SZ:000623) which gained 6.91% to close at 46.08.
The worst performers were Leshi Internet Info Tech (SZ:300104) which was down 7.12% to 71.23 in late trade, Iflytek Co Ltd (SZ:002230) which lost 6.41% to settle at 50.35 and AVIC Aircraft Co Ltd (SZ:000768) which was down 5.89% to 43.27 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by 519 to 422.
Shares in Hainan Airline (SS:600221) rose to all time highs; rising 10.08% or 0.600 to 6.550. Shares in Citic Guoan Vi (SS:600084) rose to 3-years highs; rising 10.05% or 1.020 to 11.170. Shares in Bank of Ningbo Co Ltd (SZ:002142) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.69% or 1.91 to 23.88. Shares in Jilin Aodong Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd (SZ:000623) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.91% or 2.98 to 46.08.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 0.35% to 31.48.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.42% or 4.90 to $1173.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.50% or 0.29 to hit $58.84 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.17 to trade at $63.13 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.03% to 6.2051, while EUR/CNY rose 0.36% to 6.9199.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 96.11.
