Netflix (NFLX) ordered to stop advertising and distributing games in Vietnam -Reuters
Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) has been ordered by Vietnam to stop advertising and distributing its games in the country before April 25, according to a report from Reuters on Wednesday.
Netflix has not yet been granted a license for game services, according to Vietnam's broadcasting authority.
Reuters revealed the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (ABEI) said in a statement that Vietnam "demands Netflix comply with the Vietnamese regulations on game online services."
Netflix shares are down around 0.7% at the time of writing.
The statement reportedly read: "We order Netflix to stop advertising and publishing the Netflix's video games on the Netflix application and on Appstore Vietnam and Google Play store Vietnam before April 25."
Netflix is said to be seeking to open an office in Vietnam. Several times in the past, Vietnam has ordered the streaming giant to block domestic access to certain content.
