Italy stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com Italy 40 down 2.10%

Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Travel & Leisure and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 2.10% to hit a new 52-week low.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were CNH Industrial NV (MI:CNHI), which rose 6.29% or 0.345 points to trade at 5.830 at the close. Meanwhile, Banca Mediolanum SpA (MI:BMED) added 3.67% or 0.215 points to end at 6.075 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) was up 3.51% or 0.0200 points to 0.5900 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Finmeccanica (MI:SIFI), which fell 5.91% or 0.605 points to trade at 9.635 at the close. Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) declined 5.75% or 0.0405 points to end at 0.6635 and Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO) was down 5.67% or 0.4600 points to 7.6500.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 298 to 120 and 14 ended unchanged.

Shares in Finmeccanica (MI:SIFI) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.91% or 0.605 to 9.635. Shares in Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.75% or 0.0405 to 0.6635. Shares in Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.67% or 0.4600 to 7.6500.

Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.13% or 0.36 to $31.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.41% or 0.14 to hit $34.32 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1157.10 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.1134, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.7702.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 97.14.
