Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.93%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Chemicals and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.93%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.38%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.37%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which rose 5.32% or 12.400 points to trade at 245.450 at the close. Meanwhile, Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 4.48% or 0.550 points to end at 12.830 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was up 2.82% or 2.100 points to 76.510 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which fell 4.59% or 1.450 points to trade at 30.125 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 0.27% or 0.500 points to end at 182.350 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) was up 0.54% or 0.400 points to 75.140.

The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which rose 3.58% to 99.570, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was up 3.13% to settle at 12.995 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which gained 2.79% to close at 30.160.

The worst performers were Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which was down 1.12% to 61.820 in late trade, Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which lost 0.56% to settle at 26.630 and Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was down 0.18% to 6.788 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which rose 8.52% to 43.450, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was up 3.36% to settle at 150.900 and Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which gained 3.34% to close at 5.070.

The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 0.52% to 288.000 in late trade, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which lost 0.46% to settle at 12.015 and Qiagen NV (XETRA:QGEN) which was down 0.35% to 22.840 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 526 to 203 and 39 ended unchanged.

Shares in Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) rose to all time highs; up 8.52% or 3.410 to 43.450. Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) rose to all time highs; rising 3.36% or 4.900 to 150.900.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.83% to 20.66.

Gold for June delivery was up 2.34% or 27.50 to $1202.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.52% or 0.30 to hit $57.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.10 to trade at $65.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.0909, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7156.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 96.75.
