France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.31%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.31% to hit a new 6-months low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.42%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (PA:TCFP), which rose 6.64% or 7.15 points to trade at 114.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) added 2.97% or 1.25 points to end at 43.39 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was up 1.62% or 5.45 points to 341.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 8.77% or 5.12 points to trade at 53.29 at the close. Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) declined 6.37% or 0.88 points to end at 12.93 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was down 5.89% or 0.63 points to 10.10.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 13.12% to 127.60, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was up 9.81% to settle at 0.84 and Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which gained 9.27% to close at 35.12.

The worst performers were Coface (PA:COFA) which was down 12.19% to 8.50 in late trade, Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which lost 11.15% to settle at 6.13 and Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was down 9.00% to 2.87 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 525 to 97 and 47 ended unchanged.

Shares in Thales (PA:TCFP) rose to 3-years highs; up 6.64% or 7.15 to 114.80. Shares in WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.77% or 5.12 to 53.29. Shares in Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.37% or 0.88 to 12.93. Shares in Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.89% or 0.63 to 10.10. Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) rose to 3-years highs; up 13.12% or 14.80 to 127.60. Shares in Coface (PA:COFA) fell to 52-week lows; losing 12.19% or 1.18 to 8.50. Shares in Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) fell to all time lows; falling 9.00% or 0.28 to 2.87.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.07% or 21.10 to $1,987.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 3.59% or 4.15 to hit $119.83 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 5.18% or 6.12 to trade at $124.23 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.42% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 99.14.
