France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.39%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.39%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.34%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which rose 1.76% or 2.28 points to trade at 131.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) added 1.49% or 0.62 points to end at 42.25 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) was up 1.45% or 0.340 points to 23.840 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which fell 2.25% or 0.87 points to trade at 37.85 at the close. L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) declined 1.99% or 5.20 points to end at 256.00 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 1.81% or 0.302 points to 16.358.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 3.76% to 43.93, Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which was up 3.23% to settle at 28.75 and Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which gained 2.62% to close at 16.47.

The worst performers were BIC (PA:BICP) which was down 4.37% to 60.25 in late trade, Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which lost 2.73% to settle at 37.08 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) which was down 2.50% to 101.55 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 306 to 267 and 91 ended unchanged.

Shares in Accor SA (PA:ACCP) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.49% or 0.62 to 42.25. Shares in Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) rose to 5-year highs; up 1.45% or 0.340 to 23.840.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.32% to 11.81.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.07% or 1.05 to $1481.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.23% or 0.74 to hit $60.88 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.25% or 0.82 to trade at $66.16 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1152, while EUR/GBP rose 1.63% to 0.8493.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 96.720.
