France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.20%

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.20%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 6.38% or 0.79 points to trade at 13.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 1.33% or 1.95 points to end at 148.60 and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) was up 1.29% or 0.90 points to 70.88 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which fell 2.43% or 2.12 points to trade at 85.04 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) declined 1.65% or 2.50 points to end at 148.90 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE) was down 1.09% or 0.32 points to 28.93.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which rose 6.38% to 13.10, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 5.39% to settle at 16.42 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which gained 3.92% to close at 2.04.

The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was unchanged 6.25% to 0.01 in late trade, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which lost 5.66% to settle at 2.15 and Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was down 5.45% to 1.42 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 263 to 237 and 115 ended unchanged.

Shares in Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) unchanged to all time lows; unchanged 6.25% or 0.00 to 0.01. Shares in Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) rose to 3-years highs; rising 5.39% or 0.84 to 16.42. Shares in Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) fell to all time lows; losing 5.45% or 0.08 to 1.42.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.06% or 1.35 to $2,162.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.69% or 1.36 to hit $81.94 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.52% or 1.30 to trade at $86.64 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 103.24.
