TOKYO, July 1 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average fell 0.9 percent on Tuesday, with financial shares down despite the Bank of Japan's June tankan survey showing Japanese business confidence pulled back from a record low hit three months ago.

Orix Corp, Japan's biggest leasing firm and a major property investor, was untraded and overwhelmed with sell orders after three people familiar with the matter said the firm plans to raise about 100 billion yen ($1 billion) through a public share offering.

The benchmark Nikkei lost 84.44 points to 9,874.00 and the broader Topix fell 0.6 percent to 923.99. (Reporting by Elaine Lies)
