Pornhub Says Crypto Accounts for Only 1% of Payments, Expects Wider Adoption in Future
Adult entertainment website Pornhub announced that cryptocurrency payments make up less than 1% of purchases made on the platform, Hard Fork announced on Friday, citing information from the management of the Canada-based company.
While apparently lackluster, the proportion of visitors that buy a premium subscription with cryptocurrency may actually represent a significant number of users. Pornhub attracted some 28.5 billion visitors in 2017. While the company does not share what chunk of its users pay for the premium service, the potential number of customers who pay in cryptocurrency is likely in the hundreds of millions.
