Semtech's Lora Technology In Use In Hanbit's UWM Solution

Semtech Corporation (NASDAQ:SMTC) recently announced that Hanbit has unveiled an ultrasonic water metering (“UWM”) solution based on Semtech’s LoRa devices and LoRaWAN protocol.
Hanbit is a provider of automation solutions in smart gas, water and electricity metering.
With up to 20 years of battery life, these new UWM smart meters provide real-time transmission of accurate water use data, even at very low flowrates.
Notably, the readings of the water flow occur at fixed intervals, enabling accurate insight into water use trends. Moreover, the smart meter quickly sends a warning message over the LoRaWAN network in case of a drop in water flow, thereby avoiding any kind of damage.
The LoRa technology enables long-range connectivity of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and aids in connecting sensors to the cloud. Its long-range performance and low power consumption requirement enhance overall performance. Moreover, this technology helps in real-time communication of data and analytics to enhance efficiency, as well as productivity.
Consequently, the latest move is likely to boost the adoption rate of the company’s LoRa technology, which in turn will drive the top line.
