Oil Futures Rise Sharply, Gold Extends Recent Rally

Crude futures rose sharply on Wednesday extending gains from one session earlier, amid a massive draw of U.S. stockpiles last week. U.S. oil futures top $61 on bets for large U.S. supply drop US crude oil inventories continue to fall. The latest data from the Energy Information Administration showed that inventories fell by 6.81 million barrels in the week ending June 5.In the prior week, crude inventories fell by 1.9 million barrels.

Gold futures posted significant gains on Wednesday extending a recent rally, as unconfirmed reports surfaced of a potential breakthrough in negotiations between Greece and its international creditors. The precious metal trimmed earlier gains amid positive developments as Germany considers incremental aid deal to Greece.
