Here's Why Dow 15K Is Key To The Shutdown

Everyone should know by now that once the stock market declines sharply for a few more days or weeks the politicians will usually strike a deal in Washington DC. All this talk of a potential shutdown of the government is just temporary -- the politicians fear the stock markets much more than the voters.

Just Don'y Mess With 15K
Today, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA ) is trading lower by more than 100 points at 15,159.00, but it remains well above the psychological 15,000 level. You see, the majority of the people in the public just look at the DJIA. As long as that level on the DJIA continues to stay above the 15,000 level there will be very little public outlash.

On the other hand, if the stock markets really started to tumble and the Dow closed below 15,000, the public would really cause an uproar. Then the public would threaten the politicians with their jobs during the next election. This is the reason why every debt-ceiling debate gets settled so quickly.
