 | Sep 20, 2016 11:11PM ET

Leading thermal imaging cameras maker, FLIR Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:FLIR) unveiled its latest thermal fire sensor, FLIR RSX-F. The device is well equipped to detect fire in rail coaches, thus averting major crisis.

Better Fire Control for Coaches

Leveraging the company’s FLIR Lepton thermal sensor and high-definition visual imaging, FLIR RSX-F can detect both fire and state of occupancy in coaches. It comes with sophisticated on-board fire detection algorithms which can set the alarm bells ringing at the slightest hint of a fire, far more accurately than conventional sensors.

Some of the noteworthy features of FLIR RSX-F include the ability to detect thermal energy emitted from objects, estimate the rise in temperature and locate hot spot movement.

Such advanced features help in minimizing the chances of false alarms and detect hazardous elements like cigarettes and lighters in case of a fire. This apart, FLIR RSX-F comes with a technology which enables train operators to optimize passenger flow and improve their comfort by regulating temperature and adjusting train-based HVAC systems.

Product Launches Hold Promise

FLIR Systems remains strongly committed toward the introduction of innovative products to expand its customer base and fortify its foothold in new markets. The company has been focusing on using its exclusive Lepton and Infrared Guided Measurement technology to grab a greater market share in the Instruments segment. Rapid market traction of Lepton camera cores, along with the entire range of Lepton-based products, have driven growth by 200% on a year-over-year basis.
