Earnings Watch: BlackBerry Reports Friday

BlackBerry (NYSE:BB) will release its earnings for FQ1’19 Friday before the market opens. Estimize consensus predicts an EPS of $0.98, a 98% YoY growth while Wall Street projects an EPS of $0.01. Estimize has been more accurate in BB EPS predictions 65% of the time. We anticipate a revenue of $222.38M, while Wall Streets expects $16M less in revenue.
Despite once being the most ubiquitous phone in the business world, the Blackberry (TO:BB) phone has been rendered nearly obsolete by modern day smartphones. After hiring a new CEO in 2013 the company has pivoted towards software. Blackberry software is currently being utilized in over 120 million cars including Honda, GE, Ford, Toyota, and Volkswagen (DE:VOWG_p). This year the company has also introduced Jarvis, which scans codes looking for errors and weaknesses. The company is doing its best to adapt to the current demands of customers and become a key player in the tech industry once again.
