The outlook for U.S. equity markets was downbeat. The Dow futures indicated a loss of 0.3% at the open, the S&P 500 futures pointed to a decline of 0.35%, while Nasdaq 100 futures shed 0.3%. U.S. non-farm private employment rose less than expected in March, fuelling concerns over the strength of the U.S. labor market, industry data showed on Wednesday. In a report, payroll processing firm ADP said non-farm private employment rose by a seasonally adjusted 189,000 last month, below expectations for an increase of 225,000.
