Coal Stocks Just Can't Heat Up

This morning, the leading coal stocks are declining and not rallying higher with the major stock indexes. Traders and investors can track the coal sector by following the Market Vectors Coal ETF (KOL). Today, the KOL is trading lower by 0.20 cents to $24.58 a share. Short term traders should watch for intra-day support around the $24.40, and $24.20 levels. The daily chart of the KOL is signaling support around the $23.50, and $22.80 levels.

Some of the leading coal stocks that are declining lower include Peabody Energy Corp (BTU), Arch Coal in (ACI), Alpha Natural Resources Inc (ANR), and Walter Energy Inc (WLT). This important stock sector will usually trade in tandem with each other. The leading stock in the sector is Peabody Energy Corp (BTU). Most of the other coal stocks will often follow the action in BTU stock.
