1Spatial Wins London Geospatial Pilot Project

1Spatial (LON:SPA) has been awarded a pilot project to create a digital map of London’s underground utility assets (pipes and ducts) by the Greater London Authority (GLA). No financial terms have been released but the high-profile win further shows the value of its technology.
The Geospatial Commission, a UK government body with £80m of allocated funding, is supporting a pilot project by the GLA to map London’s underground utility assets. The hope is that a central digitalised registry will improve co-ordination between utilities and reduce the disruption created when networks are mistakenly severed. 1Spatial has been awarded the contract to validate and integrate the datasets from different utilities using its customisable rules-based engine.
The win shows the ability of 1Spatial’s software to flexibly handle large datasets from multiple sources and fits in with its goal to be a market leader in Location Master Data Management (LMDM). The company is likely to give further details on this win, as well as its recent acquisition (Geomap-Imagis) and its LMDM initiative, when it releases its interim results and hosts a capital markets day next Monday (14 October).
