Taiwan stocks higher at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted up 0.72%

Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Semiconductor and Electronics sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.72% to hit a new all time high.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were HiTi Digital Inc (TW:3494), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Acer Inc (TW:2353) added 7.72% or 2.10 points to end at 29.30 and Yageo Corp (TW:2327) was up 7.46% or 27.00 points to 389.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120), which fell 9.48% or 3.75 points to trade at 35.80 at the close. Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645) declined 4.80% or 4.30 points to end at 85.20 and Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538) was down 4.33% or 0.26 points to 5.74.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 478 to 298 and 113 ended unchanged.

Shares in Acer Inc (TW:2353) rose to 5-year highs; up 7.72% or 2.10 to 29.30.

Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.28% or 0.82 to $63.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 1.01% or 0.70 to hit $68.61 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.37% or 4.90 to trade at $1332.10 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 0.57% to 29.384, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2169.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 90.18.
