Carpenter Technology Corp Mines Steel Dynamics For New Senior VP

Carpenter recently rounded up a new senior veep to oversee a quarter of the specialty alloy company’s revenue.

Via a press release reprinted in the Fort Mill Times: “Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) has named Gary Heasley as the company’s new Senior Vice President – Performance Engineered Products (PEP), effective Monday, July 22. Heasley will have responsibility for Carpenter subsidiaries Amega West Services, LLC; Dynamet, Incorporated; and Carpenter Powder Products, Inc. He will also oversee Carpenter’s distribution businesses, Latrobe Specialty Steel Distribution, Inc. and Specialty Steel Supply, Inc.”

Heasley comes off of eight years of experience with Steel Dynamics, Inc., as well as KeyBanc Capital Markets and Ernst and Young.

So where were the stainless steel, ferroalloy and nickel prices on Monday?

Rising 1.4 percent to close at $13,650 per metric ton, the spot price of nickel experienced the biggest change on the
LME for Friday, July 12. On the LME, the 3-month price of nickel increased 1.3 percent to $13,725 per metric ton. The Indian nickel cash price declined 0.2 percent.

Chinese stainless steel prices were mixed for the day. The price of Chinese ferro-chrome continues hovering in place. For the fifth day running, the price of Chinese ferro-moly remained essentially flat.

The price of Chinese primary nickel fell 0.9 percent. The price of Chinese 316 stainless coil saw little movement. The price of Chinese 304 stainless coil remained essentially flat. The price of Chinese 316 stainless steel scrap saw essentially no change for the fifth day in a row. The price of Chinese 304 stainless steel scrap is still in place for the fifth day in a row.
